CORRADO DE BIASE ss 2012

Corrado de Biase’s fashion cannot be resumed to an easily recognizable signature or style. On the contrary, his creations take advantage of the expressive freedom given by ever-changing references and by a singular exploration of materials, colors and volumes.

After a debut in ready-to-wear in which constructions and deconstructions sensually disciplined the feminine body, this second collection magnifies fluidity, tactile sensations and original chromatic suggestions. The only figurative inspiration is defined on an overall black background: a pink flamingo but transfigured by a sweetly punk and relaxed sensibility evoking the peculiar lyricism of Zandra Rhodes.

In this landscape made of quilted surfaces, pajama-like volumes, fringe shawls, bursts of fuchsia and flashy yellow, the origami jewels designed by Ornamenta MTO stand out for their metallic glow. Asymmetry of cuts and almost paradoxical associations of dense and thin materials exalt that vibrant mix of sweetness and stiffness, which accompanied Corrado’s designs since his beginnings.

Born in Bari in 1977 Corrado graduated in Fashion and Design at the Istituto Europeo del Design in Rome. He was the design assistant to Silvia Venturini Fendi for the Fendi mens-womens footwear collections. He then transferred to the accessories studio of Yves Saint Laurent, as assistant to Francesco Russo and Stefano Pilati, coordinating the mens-womens footwear collections. Since 2008, he has worked with John Galliano as head of the mens-womens footwear lines, and since 2010 he is head of the womens footwear line at Rochas.

He presented his first Haute Couture collection in Rome in 2010 and his first ready-to-wear collection in Paris this year. By this time he has been selected by Italian Vogue among the young talents to follow.

His creations are available at Opening Ceremony (New York and Los Angeles) and Sotris (Athens, Greece), Spiga 2 -Dolce & Gabbana store ( Milano )

His collections are entirely produced in France.
